The French Revolution

The French Revolution (1789–1799) was a transformative and often violent upheaval that ended centuries of absolute monarchy in France and reshaped the modern world. Sparked by financial crisis, Enlightenment ideas, and widespread discontent with inequality under the Ancien Régime, it began with the storming of the Bastille and quickly led to the abolition of feudal privileges, the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the execution of King Louis XVI, the Reign of Terror, and ultimately the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte.
